Running My First 5K!

Last weekend, I ran in my first official 5K. My first 5K of choice? The Color Run, of course!

For those of you who don’t know me, running a 5K is quite an accomplishment for me as I’ve never been much of a runner. I only started to get into running a few years ago. At first, I could only run for about a minute before I was tired, winded, and ready to quit. With persistence and a little mental training, I moved to treadmill miles, then graduated to miles on the indoor track at my gym. When I was able to keep my pace inside, I started working on outdoor miles.

Each milestone in my running journey has been a critical stepping stone in my quest to complete a 5K race. It was an exciting, colorful experience I won’t forget for a long time, that I know for sure. I had a great running companion and encourager (Alex) and I’m happy to admit that I’m ready for the next one. Oh, and maybe a 10K by Spring 2020? I’ll keep you posted on that one.

Here is a collection of my favorite photos from race day.
