Friday Favorites #6

Hello and Happy Friday! And happy first day of December, aka my birthday month! Welcome back to Friday Favorites, where each week I’ll be sharing a handful of things I’m loving lately. It’s been a few weeks since my last favorites post, but I’m happy to have a new list curated for you today. Cheers to Friday friends, we made it!

Beach brunch (say that 10 times fast!)

Last week Saturday, we took a day trip down to Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. We stopped for brunch at Famous Toastery of Wilmington and I brought the second half of my breakfast burrito to the beach for an afternoon snack. It was a little cold (mid-50s and some wind), but totally worth it. Highly recommend a beach picnic.

New Target boots

I’ve received so many compliments on these boots. They’re so cute and comfortable.

Rare Beauty liquid blushes

I’ve been wanting to try these liquid blushes for a long time, so I finally (!!) bought them in a mini sample pack from Sephora. I really like the look and feel of both the pink and orange colors. Definitely will be buying full size versions when my sampler sizes run out. A beauty win! Love adding new makeup products to my collection.

Trader Joe’s spicy chai tea latte mix

Mixed together with hot apple cider = the best combo. I’ll be sipping one this weekend, too.

You’re Losing Me on Spotify!

Thank you Taylor Swift for being the gift that keeps on giving. I’ve been WAITING and WAITING for this song to drop on streaming. One of the best bridges she’s ever written and I’ll die on that hill.

Spotify Wrapped

As a big Spotify listener, I always look forward to Spotify Wrapped season. Shocking no one, my top artist was Taylor Swift, followed by Kelsea Ballerini, Paramore, Maisie Peters, and Megan Moroney. My most played song was Penthouse by Kelsea Ballerini and that’s so fitting given how obsessed I’ve been with that song since it released in February. I love seeing everyone’s Wrapped — it’s so interesting to see all the versatile music preferences out there!

Kelsea Ballerini on Call Her Daddy

I really enjoyed Kelsea’s feature on Call Her Daddy earlier this year. It’s so beautiful to see how much she’s healed since she released and performed songs on her Rolling Up The Welcome Mat EP. In the new episode, I loved how refreshing the conversation was, basically a 180 degree spin from the last episode where she talked more in depth about her divorce/feelings around getting divorced (sad undertones). This time around, so many positive things were discussed (falling in love after heartbreak and her relationship with Chase Stokes — adorable), but the conversation Alex and Kelsea had about getting older really resonated with me. Two quotes I picked up on:

  • “I think turning 30 is the hottest thing I’ve ever done.” — Kelsea

  • “It’s a f*cking privilege to get older.” — Alex

Don’t sleep on Kelsea Ballerini!

The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne

I’ve had this book on my bookshelf all year long and finally got around to reading — well listening — to it. I chose to give it a listen because it’s a big book — almost 600 pages. I adored every page and I’m so glad I went the audio book route instead. The narration was phenomenal and gave the book so much more depth. A very heartwarming and character-driven story. 5 stars from me and so many others as you can see on Goodreads.

An old picture of my sister, Bub, and me

Fun fact: I was born on my paternal grandpa’s birthday and three years later, my middle sister was born on my maternal grandpa’s birthday. Yesterday was my middle sister’s birthday and I always get sentimental digging through the photo bin to find something special to post. I found this picture of my sister, Bub, and me and it made me smile. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Bub — you already know I had a “diet pill” (a wintergreen lozenge candy for clarification purposes) for you!

Have the best weekend, whatever you do! I have to fluff and decorate the Christmas tree (trying to be festive this year), but other than that, I don’t have any solidified plans. Mogul’s advent calendar starts today — you know I’m excited about that! He’s been eyeing it up since I brought it home from PetSmart the other day. See you next week for more Friday Favorites!

Enjoy!
