Frustration & Gratitudes

IMG_8183.jpg

It was one of those weeks for me.

I feel like I spent the better part of the last week feeling overwhelmingly frustrated with people, projects, and things out of my control. Unfortunately, frustration is an emotion I feel quite often, especially when dealing with people. I don’t love it, but I try my best to manage it day by day.

This week’s frustration was brought forward by disappointing interactions with people. It’s legitimate for people to disagree if their feelings and opinions don’t align with one another. However, when facts are present, disagreement becomes less legitimate. This week, I struggled with people disagreeing with me even when factual data was present. People disagreeing with me to protect their own interests, even when the facts were presented to show a different story.

Let’s put it this way, no one likes to admit they are wrong. But at the end of the day, it’s good for relationship development and credibility to own up to mistakes, whether the mistake was a personal oversight or misunderstanding of a situation. I try not to be so cynical, but the older I get the more cynical I have become.

I don’t like to focus on just the negatives though. I believe it’s important to vent out frustrations and get negative energy off your chest when it’s there. If you don’t get rid of it, it morphs itself into stress and takes a physical toll on your body. But my rule is this: it’s okay to vent out the pain points of your day or week, but if you talk about the bad, save some time to talk about the good as well.

There are so many simple gratitudes that go unappreciated because it’s easier to complain about the negative than it is to be thankful for what you have!

Here’s what I’m thankful for this week:

~Amazing weather.

I’m talking morning temps in the 40s and 50s and daily high temps in the mid 60s to low 70s. Perfect boots and flannel weather. Last weekend, I bought the Kamryn Faux Leather Combat Boot - Universal Thread™ in black color in size 9 (my regular boot size). I’ve been wearing them all week — they are so comfortable. Target has 20% off Men's, Women's, & Kids' Shoes through 10/26, so I’m going to grab them in brown too!

~The gym.

I was on a hiatus for the last few months and I was feeling way off my game. I got in a few good runs and a couple leg days. It’s going to be nice to get the gym back into my weekly routine.

~Door County coffee.

I ordered $40 worth of one pot bags of flavored coffee from a Wisconsin-based coffee company. We dipped into the stash this week, trying coffee flavors like: Cinnamon Hazelnut, Hazelnut Creme, Pumpkin Spice, Autumn Spice, Chocolate Cherry, and Vanilla Cappuccino. If you like flavored black coffee, order some coffee online. You can get 20% off and free shipping if you sign up for their email list!

~Cute Mogul photos.

I know I post dog pics all the time, but he’s just too cute!

~This week’s nature pictures.

You all know I love snapping a good nature picture. I took a couple good ones over the last week. See below for my favorites.

Catching a few sunrises at my favorite spot to catch the sunrise on my drive to work.

~NYC trip.

My mom and I booked our first ever Mother/Daughter vacation to… NYC! I fell in love with NYC a few years ago when we vacationed there. I’m excited to experience the city for a second time. We are itinerary planning now, so if you have any recommendations, please leave a comment or send me a DM on Instagram. We will arrive the day after Thanksgiving. Can’t wait!

Enjoy your Sunday!
