Life Lately: January-May 2022

Hi friends!

Another “life lately” catch up post coming at you. It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, so today’s post will cover the highlights of January-May 2022. From a snow day to a handful of coastal day trips to opening night of minor league baseball at our local stadium, life’s been full of adventure so far this year — I just can’t believe it’s almost halfway over! If I’ve learned one thing, it’s that you can’t stop time so you might as well enjoy it while you can.

January Highlights

Experienced our fist North Carolina snow day. More on that here.

February Highlights

Took a day trip to Wrightsville Beach. Had so much fun walking, talking, and laughing with my gal pals.

Enjoyed a sunset walk along the Wilmington Riverwalk.

March Highlights

Brewery hopped in Fuquay-Varina. Drank a few beers at Vicious Fishes, Fainting Goat, and The Mason Jar Lager Co. Highly recommend all of them if you’re local to the area.

Went to Kure Beach. Walked the pier, read a book of poems on the beach, and had a wonderful day of rest and relaxation.

Stopped by Fort Fisher for a late afternoon nature walk (love this area so much).

Had a date day with Alex in Myrtle Beach. Enjoyed time by the ocean, took a ride on the SkyWheel, and went to a few different breweries.

April Highlights

Visited Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh.

Bought a bouquet of beautiful flowers from the Raleigh Farmer’s Market (and yes, I actually kept them alive!!). Ended our day in Raleigh with sushi and beer.

Drove out to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. Walked so many miles trying to squeeze in as many animals as possible. Had a lot of fun but man that place is huge! Personally loved the elephants. Was excited for the giraffes but they were too hard to see unless you paid extra to walk out onto the deck to feed them.

Cheered on the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (local minor league baseball affiliate) for opening night at Segra Stadium. Such a great addition to downtown Fayetteville.

Took a quiet walk along the waterfront at William B. Umstead State Park. Seeing all the spring greenery made me so happy!

Relaxed the day away at Wrightsville Beach.

Explored Sunset Beach and Bird Island. Walked 7 miles down the coastline to the North Carolina/South Carolina border. Wrote a note for the Kindred Spirit Mailbox too.

May Highlights

Spent lots of time snuggling Klein and Mogul, playing Switch Sports, and hammock reading while recovering from COVID-19.

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below!

PS — In the last five months, I’ve also read over 50 books which is by and far a personal record. Stay tuned for a quick recap of my favorite reads of 2022 in a reading update I’ll share later this month.

Enjoy!
