Weekly Recap: Friendship Bracelets, Eras Tour Movie, and a Trip to the NC State Fair
It’s been a busy, busy fall season, my friends. Our weekends have been jam packed with all the fall festivities, and truth be told, I’ve never been happier. October — please slow down!
What I’ve been up to:
After a long, tiring workweek, we opted for a cozy night in on Friday. We ordered takeout, listened to Taylor Swift, and made friendship bracelets with our friend Danielle in preparation for the Eras Tour movie. I haven’t made friendship bracelets in decades, but let me tell you, it was a fun, therapeutic activity. All the bracelets we made were unique and different, the perfect mix of song titles, lyrics, and our favorite references. To name a few:
Fearless
B*tch not a baller — lyric from The Man
F*ck the patriarchy — lyric from All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)
Baby just say yes — lyric from Love Story (Taylor’s Version)
All I think about is karma — lyric from Look What You Made Me Do
Karma is a god — lyric from Karma
Woodvale — reference to the folklore album trilogy theory, IYKYK
TBATWEIYAO (They’re burning all the witches even if you aren’t one) — lyric from I Did Something Bad
F*cked in the head — lyric from Champagne Problems
Cat mom
Salt air — lyric from August
Saturday morning, we went on a donut run to our local Krispy Kreme (you bet we grabbed pumpkin spice cake donuts), then swung by the mall. Alex bought new jeans and I bought the softest, coziest Aerie flannels. We stopped by the house to relax for a few hours, then went downtown to the baseball stadium for my work’s 100 year anniversary event — and hey, I won an electric bike in the employee raffle! It was a fun little event, perfect for catching up with coworkers and friends. Only problem — no beer!
After my work event it was time to watch the Eras Tour movie! Though I wasn’t able to attend any of the Eras Tour shows in person, I watched SO MUCH Eras content on TikTok. Seeing the show in theaters was such a fun experience — dare I say a new favorite way to consume concert content, of course second to the real deal. You already know I sang every word, shouted every chant, and relished in all my Taylor Swift nostalgia one era at a time. I bought the Eras popcorn and drink combo and wore my Eras tour Etsy merch and friendship bracelets. 10/10 experience!
Sunday morning, our wedding photographer sent us our full wedding photo gallery. Ugh, the photos brought back ALL the wedding memories. I’ll be sharing more photos later on, don’t worry. For now, take my word when I say I love the way our photographer captured our special day. Thank you Shelby x100!
Sunday afternoon, with the Packers on a bye week, we drove up to Raleigh for an afternoon date at the NC State Fair. In all the years we’ve lived in NC, we’ve never done the State Fair, so I thought it’d be fun. Spoiler alert and maybe unpopular opinion? — it was fine, but it wasn’t fun. There were so many people (too many people) and you could barely move around the grounds, it was so packed. My favorite part was riding the lift, a 15-20 minute ride around the fairgrounds from above. The State Fair was probably a one and done adventure for us, but I don’t regret going. I just regret waiting an hour for a ferris wheel ride lol. After the fair, we had dinner at Trophy Brewing & Pizza before heading home.
Sunday also marked the one year anniversary of my sweet grandpa’s passing. Honestly, I find myself caught somewhere between “It’s only been a year” and “It’s already been a year?” So many things remind me of him every single day. Love and miss you Bub!
What I’ve been reading:
My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine — I’m loving the vibe of this book so far. The dialogue between Frederick and Cassie cracks me up.
Hello Stranger by Katherine Center — So cute! Loved the narration of the audio book, too. Glad I finally got around to reading it.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna — Just started the audio book. Lots of potential, so let’s see how the story unfolds. This book is also @gracesreadingnook’s book club pick for October!
What I’ve been listening to:
Big Kelsea Ballerini kick lately — Loveeee Kelsea! One of my top favorite artists.
get him back! by Olivia Rodrigo — This song is everywhere, including my headphones.
BSC by Maisie Peters — I’m absolutely bloody mother f*cking bat shit crazy about this song, and that’s the truth. Obsessed.
Brynn Cartelli’s new song Lucky To Love You — So catchy, great bridge.
LA Doesn’t Miss Me by Lily Kincade — This album came up as a Spotify recommendation (based on my listening), now it’s on repeat.
Paramore’s very interesting album remix Re: This Is Why — I don’t love it. I don’t love it at all. It’s a very puzzling piece of work and I can’t help but feel they tried to ruin an already good album. Sanity (demo) is the best work on the project.
Midnights (3am Edition) by Taylor Swift — Love the Midnights era, one of my favorites.
What I’ve been watching:
You’ve Got Mail — Charming movie, perfect for fall.
Eras Tour Movie — Re: above. 10/10.
A few other (random) things:
Fridays are now for Friday Favorites — check out last week’s post, the first of the series.
Super excited about The Guncle Abroad by Steven Rowley — I really enjoyed The Guncle and can’t wait for the characters to come back for a new adventure.
Adding Lessons in Chemistry to my watch list — I’m really intrigued to see the book to tv adaptation.
A fall reading update — I’ve finished 4 of 10 books on my fall reading list. Currently reading books 5 and 6 right now.

We’re heading to the beach this weekend for more fall fun. Can’t wait!
Enjoy!
