Life Lately: March 2023
And just like that, we’re already a quarter of the way through the year. March was a busy wedding planning month for Alex and me. Wedding planning… is no joke. I’m having so much fun, but there are so many things to do, it’s kind of overwhelming. August 5th will be here before we know it!
March highlights:
Became a first time aunt to my sweet niece Berkley! I can’t wait to get back to Wisconsin to love up on her.
Picked our wedding colors and booked our photographer.
Took the plunge and (finally) made a sticker board with all my travel and brewery stickers. It’s a work in process, but I’m loving it.
Drank some green beer with friends on St. Patrick’s Day. My first green beer!
Went to the beach twice — Wrightsville and Kure Beach in early March and Wrightsville Beach again in late March. I might be biased, but Wrightsville Beach is my favorite North Carolina beach. Did you know Alex and I got engaged there?
Celebrated Alex’s 32nd birthday with steak and key lime pie.
Most streamed song on Spotify:
Just Married by Kelsea Ballerini — What does it say about me that I’m obsessed with a song about divorce as I’m planning my wedding? I’m fine, I promise. Kelsea’s latest EP just has me (and all of TikTok) in a complete chokehold.
Other musical obsessions:
Albums on repeat — Rolling Up the Welcome Mat by Kelsea Ballerini, This Is Why by Paramore, Endless Summer Vacation by Miley Cyrus, So Much (For) Stardust by Fall Out Boy, and bub by Hoodie Allen.
Maisie Peters and Megan Moroney — Both artists are all over my On Repeat Spotify playlist.
Everything Eras Tour — The outfits, the production, the energy! My entire TikTok FYP is Eras content and I’m here for it.
Favorite album released:
bub by Hoodie Allen — I’ve been waiting so long for this project to drop. Of the 8 songs on the album, there were only 3 songs we hadn’t heard (but all were great). An excellent, albeit short, album!
Favorite tv show/movie I watched:
Cocaine Bear — I low key kind of loved it? It’s not winning an Oscar, but I was thoroughly entertained.
Favorite book I read:
The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd — Loved this magical book about maps!
March Book of the Month box:
Rootless by Krystle Zara Appiah — Snip from the Goodreads synopsis: “A provocative debut novel about a marriage in crisis that asks the question: Can you ever be rooted in a home that's on the brink of collapse?”
Favorite purchases:
These flower earrings from a local boutique — The way they’re about to become my personality trait this spring and summer.
Ello ceramic speckled mug — It doesn’t keep coffee hot, but it’s perfect for work from home days. Plus it has an awesome handle and this coffee lover (me) loves a good handle.
My cute Save the Date postcards from Etsy — Love!
While there were many good days, March was kind of like a roller coaster for me. It’s easy (and fun) to talk about the highlights and the favorites, but not as fun to talk about lows. Generally speaking, I’m a pretty positive person, but there are days that break even the best of us. I had a couple days in March I was feeling bad about one thing or another. I try my best to compartmentalize the bad days, but sometimes life gets you down and the only way around is through.
Busy, busy days ahead in April. Looking forward to sunshine, warmer weather, and my California vacation.
Enjoy!
