"Ins" and "Outs" for 2025 & January 2025 Goals

New year, new me? No thanks. This year, it’s new year, more disciplined me. That’s my promise to myself in 2025 — to create and maintain a working philosophy, be more intentional about the things that impact my daily life, and set a list of monthly goals aimed to optimize productivity and help protect my inner peace. Reflecting on last year, I really struggled with consistency and spent the vast majority of time feeling genuinely unorganized — even chaotic at times — so I’m challenging myself to step outside my comfort zone and try something new in 2025: I’m making goals and intentions the forefront of my year (something I’ve never done before — I’ve never been a goal setting kind of girl). Here’s a look at what I’ve got in store for 2025, including my January goals.

Philosophy — How I’m going to spend my time in 2025:

  • Doing more of what I want (“ins”) and less of what I don’t (“outs”).

  • Prioritizing me, making time for hobbies I love, and creating a better, healthier work/life balance.

  • Spending my energy where it’s truly needed.

  • Reflecting upon and sharing my achievements on a monthly basis.

Intentions — “Ins” and “Outs” for 2025:

  • “Ins” for 2025: using a planner to stay organized, tracking positive habits, setting (realistic, achievable) monthly goals, and doing more of what sparks joy and happiness in my daily life.

  • “Outs” for 2025: spending copious amounts of time doom-scrolling the Internet, lacking commitment and/or follow through when I say I’m going to (or not going to) do something, and letting stress and anxiety wreak havoc on my physical, mental, and/or emotional health when it’s totally unnecessary.

Goals to reflect upon — In January, I want to…

  • Create routine and actually use my planner.

  • Read 1 book per week (and both books coming in my January Book of the Month box).

  • Walk 25 miles outside.

  • Try 4 new recipes.

  • Post 2 weekly recaps and/or favorites posts on the blog.

  • Clean out and reorganize my bedroom dresser and closet space.

  • Have a “new date” date day with Alex (doing something we’ve never done or going somewhere we’ve never been).

  • Create a Duolingo account.

  • Take a day trip to the beach.
