Weekly Recap: Raleigh Farmer's Market, Labor Day Shopping, and Happy Third Trimester to Me!

When I found out I was pregnant in late-March, I remember thinking to myself, “Oh this is going to take forever.” Six months later and it’s turning out to be the exact opposite — time is FLYING by. Last weekend, I officially entered the third trimester of my pregnancy — the third trimester (!!). It’s a crazy feeling to be in the home stretch. I’m overwhelmed, but overwhelmed in the best way. We’re so close to meeting our baby girl!

What I’ve been up to:

Thankfully, Alex and I live a very active lifestyle, and that hasn’t stopped with pregnancy. To kickoff Labor Day weekend, we grabbed coffee at our favorite coffee shop (hello Morning Jump) and drove up to Raleigh for a day of shopping. We started our day at the State Farmer’s Market where we bought lots of fresh veggies, Taylor Swift-themed candles (because of course), a big, beautiful bouquet of flowers, and a few other local goodies. After the farmer’s market, we had lunch at Trophy Brewing & Pizza (another favorite), then went over to the mall to check out a few stores for Alex to do some back-to-school shopping. Between clothes for Alex, a Sephora and book haul for me, and a big bag of fall-scented candles (love Bath & Body fall scents) for both of us, we came away with quite the haul. On our way home, we made one final stop at Target where we humbled ourselves playing around with all the different strollers and travel systems on display (first time parent problems haha). I also snagged a cute vase for my farmer’s market flowers and I’m honestly obsessed with it.

Sunday was a big house cleaning day. Over the last couple months, we’ve been super focused on decluttering the house so we can get things ready for baby. It was a busy day of going through our spare room where we keep all Klein’s cat stuff, boxing up seasonal decor, purging old documents and things we don’t use anymore, and trying to reorganize some of the spaces we’ve struggled to keep clean over the years. It was a lot of work, but we made good progress! To end the evening, we had a dinner and movie night with friends and watched the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club. We got home pretty late, so we let ourselves sleep in on Labor Day Monday and spent the last day of our 3-day weekend relaxing. It felt good.

What I’ve been listening to:

  • Sabrina Carpenter’s new album of course — The metaphors and innuendos are top notch on this project. Sabrina writes with such wit and charm in her pop music and I love it so much. Just over a week post-album, Tears, Nobody’s Son, and House Tour are the songs that seem to get stuck in my head the most.

  • Famous Back Home by Russell Dickerson — I especially enjoyed 16 Me from this album. I listened to it, then immediately listened to it again. So nostalgic and relatable.

  • Been vibing to Doja Cat’s new single Jealous Type — It’s catchy!

  • New Hayley Williams — She released an album of the songs she released a few weeks back and gave us a new track, Parachute. I’m not a huge fan of Hayley’s solo work, but I really like Parachute.

What I’ve been reading:

What I’ve been watching:

  • Weapons — We watched this horror movie in theaters a few weeks ago and both liked it. I was apprehensive about the “horror” label because I don’t usually like jump scares, but it was really well done with lots of humor too.

  • The Four Seasons on Netflix — Cute show.

  • The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix — I really wanted to love the movie since I LOVE the book series, but it fell kind of flat for me. I shared my full thoughts in a separate post, but overall, I thought it lacked the classic Thursday Murder Club charm which makes me sad.

A few other (random) things:

Hope you had a great short week and weekend, friends!

Happy third trimester to me :)

Enjoy!
