8/5/23: The Day We Said “I Do”

“And that’s a wrap!” said the DJ as he queued up “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)”, our closing song of choice. “Everyone please join the bride and groom out on the dance floor one last time.” Right then, time froze still. I looked around, smiled, and let it all sink in. In those final minutes of our wedding reception celebration, standing beside my husband and our closest family and friends, I couldn’t help but feel more loved — and in love — than I’ve ever felt before.

Weekly Recap: We Got Married!

I’ve never slept more total hours in a weekend, but I guess that shows you how low the tank’s been sitting. 12 hours of sleep Friday and Saturday night, coupled with three hour-long naps Saturday and Sunday… suffice to say your girl was tired! The last six weeks have been the best, most rewarding, yet most exhausting of my life. But hey — planning and executing a wedding… we can now check that box!

My Maid of Honor Speech

A couple weekends ago, I stood beside my middle sister, Melanie, as she married her longtime boyfriend and now husband, Ben. Being the first of three daughters to get married, my sister’s wedding was a huge milestone for our family. Lots of planning went in to making it the most special day. For two years, my sister called me (nearly) every day to discuss one wedding detail or another; with every FaceTime call, I quickly learned that wedding planning is not an easy feat. In the end though, the whole thing went off without a hitch — perfectly emotional, celebratory, and a whole lot of fun. The morning after, our voices were strained from singing, our faces hurt from so many smiles, and our feet were sore from dancing the night away. What more could you ask for?
