It’s after midnight Thanksgiving morning, Alex and Mogul are sleeping in the bed, Klein is snoring on the couch beside me, and I’m putting the finishing touches on my 2024 gratitude list. Did I intend to stay up this late? When I know I have to make stuffing and cookies for Friendsgiving later this afternoon? Absolutely not, I’m anything but a night owl. But alas, here we are… the early morning hours… peace and quiet throughout the house… my thoughts floating in an orb all around me…
Read MoreThough it’s not yet consistently cold outside, the temperatures around here are pretty erratic at the moment. As such, of course our HVAC unit went out during one of the cold spells. It took a few weeks to get it up and running, but we have AC and heat again — rejoice! I bought a heated blanket last year and I’ve been living underneath it almost every night. It’s so cozy!

I live for the days and weeks post-Labor Day into middle October. The summer heat sizzles down. Football takes over. Weekend day trips pick up. There’s so much to do, so little time to enjoy it all. With my husband and partner in crime beside me, we soak up as much daylight we can get. And it never gets old. This year it’s no exception. Looking through and reflecting on all the recent photos in my camera roll, I’m realizing just how busy we’ve been exploring beautiful North Carolina in September and October. It’s a good kind of busy — a happy busy. Getting the most out of the transitional weekends I love so much. Sharing some highlights below!
